For the 2021 model year, the GR Supra 3.0’s engine has undergone a rebuild with its engineers adding a new piston design and a dual-branch exhaust manifold. With these enhancements, this turbocharged engine will put out up to 382 horsepower – an increase from last year’s 335 horsepower. It is also expected to lower the Supra’s 0-96 km/h time to 3.9 seconds. Toyota has also retuned the GR Supra 3.0 handling, allowing it to take on corners tighter and with more control.

Joining the Supra 3.0 this year will be the GR Supra 2.0. This all-new model is the entry-level option, giving you an option between the Toyota 86 and the GR Supra 3.0. It has a 2.0-litre inline-four turbocharged engine that yields 255 horsepower. This model also weighs approximately 200 pounds less than the GR Supra 3.0.

Tire Care Tips to Protect Your Vehicle in High River, AB

Taking care of your tires should be a priority to ensure they last a long time. After all, your car’s tires are what stand between it and the road. If you’re unsure how to properly take care of your tires, our service technicians at High River Toyota recommend following these tire care tips.

Tire Care Tips | High River, AB

Add them to your regular maintenance

Your tires are just as important as getting your brakes checked or your oil changes. In fact, when you get this type of maintenance done, you should also get your tires rotated. Tire rotations will help make sure your tires don’t experience uneven wear, allowing them to last longer.

Clean them periodically

If you need to give your car a good scrub to wipe away dirt, make sure you hit the wheels too. Washing the tires will not only allow you to check that they’re clear of any debris that might cause a puncture, it also gives you a chance to closely look at your tire’s tread to ensure they’re not wearing down too quickly.

Park in the shade

Too much sun can cause the rubber in the tires to dry out. To prevent this from happening, either park in your garage or keep your car in the shade to reduce the chance of your tires cracking.

The roads in High River, Alberta, can be dirty, slippery, and even hazardous, so make sure your car, truck, or SUV’s tires are properly maintained so you’re not stranded with a flat. If your vehicle needs new tires, bring it to the High River Toyota service department, and we can get you a new set.

Tips for SUV Maintenance from High River Toyota

Like any vehicle, your SUV needs to be cared for so it continues to run smoothly. Whether you’re driving a Toyota Highlander or a Toyota RAV4, there are ways that you can make sure your vehicle stays in tiptop condition. These tips for SUV maintenance are a good place to start.

Tips for SUV Maintenance | High River, AB

Keep an eye on your tires. The tires are an important part of your SUV. Check tire pressure regularly, and fill them up if the pressure is above or below the recommended range. Also, keep an eye on your tires’ tread, verifying that they still have the depth to drive safely.

Don’t forget about routine maintenance. Every car needs to have a routine oil change and tire rotation, and your SUV is no exception. Keep up with your SUV’s recommended maintenance schedule, which can be found in your owner’s manual. This will keep it running like new.

Pay attention to your engine. If you’ve been driving your SUV for a while, you know what it’s supposed to sound like. Listen for any obvious changes in your engine’s sounds. Also, if the check engine light comes on, make sure you bring your Toyota in to our service centre at High River Toyota for repairs.

Change out the cabin filter. Your cabin air filter is there to keep the air clean, collecting any pollutants that might be trying to enter your SUV. Make sure you clean or replace it every few months for good air quality in your vehicle.

Give your interior a cleaning. Over time, snack crumbs, sticky hands, and dirty shoes can cause your interior to start looking a bit mucky. Give your cabin a good vacuum and wipe down every now and then to ensure your SUV continues looking like new.

To properly service your SUV on a regular basis, make an appointment with High River Toyota.

How to Prepare Your Toyota for an Alberta Road Trip

When you’re getting ready for a long drive around Alberta, it’s important to think ahead and prepare your car. If you’re stumped on how to do so, we’ve put together these tips on how to prepare your Toyota for an Alberta road trip.

Alberta Road Trip | High River, AB

Check the tires.

Before you head out on your road trip, make sure the tires are in good condition. Check the air pressure and, if it’s not in the manufacturer’s recommended range, add air accordingly.

Also, make sure the tires have a good amount of tread left. To do so, simply place a penny with the Queen’s head facing down into your tire’s tread. If you can see the top of the Queen’s hair, you need to get your tires replaced.

Don’t forget about routine maintenance.

If your car is due for an oil change soon, make sure you take care of it before driving a long distance. You should also make sure the tires are rotated so they wear evenly.

Get the battery inspected.

No one wants to find themselves stranded on the side of the road when they’re supposed to be travelling. Check the battery terminals for corrosion and have the battery’s charge checked, as well.

Fill up the windshield wiper fluid.

Visibility is important whenever you’re driving, so make sure you can clean your windshield at a moment’s notice. Fill up the windshield wiper fluid and make sure the spray mechanism works so you don’t have to worry about visibility.

We at High River Toyota are here to make sure your car is ready for a road trip once it’s safe to travel again, so schedule a service appointment now and be ready to hit the open road later this year.

2021 Toyota Mirai Debuts at Quebec City International Auto Show

Canadians just got an all-new option for going green. During the Québec City International Auto Show last month, Toyota held the all-new 2021 Toyota Mirai debut, which introduced the newest generation of the brand’s hydrogen-powered sport sedan. This is the first time that the new Mirai has made an appearance in Canada.

2021 Toyota Mirai debut | High River, AB

The 2021 Mirai is the second generation of the brand’s hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. It offers a dramatic style with a coupe-inspired body that is longer, wider, and lower than the last generation’s model. This allows it to be more aerodynamic for increased efficiency, while still turning heads on the go, highlighting the fact that you can still be stylish while going green.

For the new generation, Toyota has given the Mirai a real-wheel-drive configuration instead of front-wheel drive. That will offer better handling and acceleration, while also providing a quieter ride and increased hydrogen storage. That means this new model is projected to have 30 percent better range than the current Mirai model, especially since it also comes with a new fuel-cell system.

The Mirai is currently on sale in Québec, first introduced to the Canadian market in early 2019. Now, Toyota continues to showcase its hydrogen power in the country in hopes of increasing the eco-friendliness of Canadian roads.
